Heavy rains in Pakistan, 29 people lost their lives

 

At least 29 people were killed in landslides and house collapses in Pakistan after 48 hours of heavy rain. At least 50 people were injured.

These incidents happen especially in the north-western region. Al Jazeera news.

Since Thursday night, 23 rain-related deaths have occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which borders Afghanistan. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority gave this information in a statement on Sunday.

Five people were killed in Balochistan province after the coastal city of Gwadar was flooded. The authorities are forced to evacuate 10,000 people by boat.

The National Disaster Management Authority said in a separate statement that Pakistan-administered Kashmir has suffered heavy casualties and damage.

Emergency relief has been provided to the affected areas. Heavy machinery has been used to remove debris from the road.

The Karakoram Highway connecting Pakistan and China remains closed. Faizullah Faraq, spokesman for the northern Gilgit-Baltistan region, said landslides occurred in some parts of the highway.

Considering the environmental situation, the authorities have banned tourists from going north. Last week, visitors were stranded by heavy rains.
