Russia ready for nuclear war: Putin warns today
In a warning to Western countries, Russian President Vladimir Putin said his country is technically ready for nuclear war. If the US sends troops to Ukraine, it will be considered a major provocation in the conflict. He gave this warning on Wednesday.
Putin issued this warning ahead of the March 15-17 presidential election in Russia. Through this election, another term of his power for a period of six years is going to be confirmed.
The Russian president said that nuclear war is not imminent. He does not see the need to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine.
Asked whether Russia is ready for a nuclear war or not, Putin told Rossiya-1 television and news agency RIA, "Of course we are ready militarily and technically."
Putin said the United States knows that if it deploys its own troops on Russian territory or Ukraine, Russia will see such a move as interference.
The Russian President said, "There are many experts on Russia-US relations and strategic restraint in the United States." So I don't think everything is headed for a nuclear conflict. But we are ready for it.
Putin offered to discuss Ukraine as well as the nuclear threat. Although the United States has been saying that Putin is not ready for serious talks on Ukraine.
After the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962, the Ukraine war created a deep crisis in Russia's relations with the Western world. Putin has repeatedly warned that if the Western world sends troops to fight in Ukraine, it risks nuclear war.
When Putin sent hundreds of thousands of troops into Ukraine in February 2022, the war began in full swing. Earlier, pro-Russian Ukrainian and Russian proxy groups were fighting with the country's army in the eastern part of Ukraine for eight years.
The West is struggling to decide how to help Ukraine against Russia in a US election year. About one-fifth of Ukraine is currently controlled by Russia. The country is also rearming itself faster than the Western world and Ukraine.
Putin has been publicly threatening one nuclear war after another to dissuade the United States from getting more involved in the war in Ukraine. The Kremlin also commented that such a move would be considered as joining the world war.
