Simon Coveney, deputy leader of Fine Gael, said: "I think his leadership will drive everyone forward."
"He will repay their faith with hard work, blood, sweat and tears, with responsibility, with humility and civility," Simon Harris told members of the centre-right party.
"Fine Gael" has been in power in Ireland for the past three years. But the party is under pressure from Northern Ireland's left-wing party "Sinn Féin".
