Two pilots of the passenger plane fell asleep in mid-air.

An airplane was flying in mid-air. There were 153 passengers and crew in it. There were two pilots in the cockpit. But both fell asleep in mid-air. That's not one or two minutes, they slept for 28 minutes. Both have been suspended for this. Investigation is going on.

This surprising incident happened last January 25, in Indonesia. In an Airbus A320 model aircraft of Batik Air operating in the domestic route of the country. It was carrying passengers from Sulawesi in southeastern Indonesia to the capital, Jakarta.

Although in the end there was no major danger. All passengers are safe. The plane landed safely in Jakarta.

The 32-year-old pilot of the plane said that the co-pilot took control of the plane half an hour after takeoff. At that time he (the pilot) needed rest. When he asked to rest, the 28-year-old co-pilot agreed. This information was given in a report of the Ministry of Transport of Indonesia.

The report also said that when the pilot fell asleep, the co-pilot also fell asleep. The co-pilot said that his wife gave birth to twins a month ago. A lot of time and effort is required to look after children at home. He was also very tired because of these things.

An attempt was made to contact the aircraft's cockpit from the air traffic control room in Jakarta. But neither of the two pilots could respond as they were asleep. Later it became known that they were sleeping.

Then the pilot woke up earlier. He realizes that the co-pilot is also asleep. He took control of the aircraft. Responds when contacted from control room. Land the plane safely in Jakarta.

Before the start of the flight, the health of the two pilots was checked. They even passed the drug test.

Batik Air Authority was reprimanded for the incident by the head of Indonesia's Air Transport Department, M Kristi Ndah Murni. Batik Air needs to pay more attention to providing adequate rest for its crew, he said.
